Darren Hale, P.E.
Associate Director, Facilities Operations and Maintenance
Darren has 18 years of experience in facilities operations and energy management. Before joining UT, he was a commander with the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps from November 1999 to May 2017. During that time he served in several capacities, most recently as assistant regional engineer where he oversaw the budget supporting eight installations across Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. Prior to that, he provided leadership for naval facilities operations, military construction, public works, capital investment and humanitarian assistance projects at various U.S. bases throughout the world. He also deployed to Afghanistan, where he oversaw the construction program to rebuild infrastructure for the Afghan armed forces. Darren is a registered Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager. He obtained his Master of Science degree in civil engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University.
Manager, Maintenance Operations
Zach has over 30 years of experience in facilities engineering and maintenance in the higher education, aerospace, defense, and manufacturing industries. His credentials include Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM). He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.
Manager, Building Operations
Mark has 30 years of experience in facilities maintenance in government organizations and the private sector, with 20 years in Building Automation Systems (BAS). He is certified as an Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP). He attended Central Texas College, majoring in HVAC technology.
Manager, Engineering & Technical Support
Randy has over 20 years of experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) design and operation in office spaces, semiconductor manufacturing, and higher education. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.
