Jim Carse
Manager, Landscape Services

Jim has spent all of his professional career in the forestry and landscape professions, and has been with UT since 2011. He was promoted to manager of Landscape Services in 2017 after serving as assistant manager, where he oversaw the Urban Forestry team and the Tree Campus USA program as well as the landscape maintenance team at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus and West Pickle Campus. Prior to joining UT, he served as an urban forester for the Texas A&M Forest Service and as an arborist with the City of Round Rock. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in forest management from Colorado State University and is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist and municipal specialist. He is also a Texas licensed Irrigator and a licensed pesticide applicator. He is a past president of the ISA Texas Chapter and a member of the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS).

Mike Klemmer
Assistant Manager, Landscape Maintenance

Mike has over 24 years of experience in landscape management. Prior to joining the university, he worked at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a grounds supervisor II for nearly eight years. Prior to that, he worked at Texas A&M University as a landscape maintenance section leader, and at other institutions as landscape superintendent, manager of community and landscape maintenance, and site superintendent at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. He is a member of the Professional Grounds Management Society and the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association. He is currently working on gaining his Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator license. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Texas Lutheran University and took graduate-level classes in landscape design at Radcliffe College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Lisa Lennon, ALSA, PLA
Landscape Architect, Operations

Lisa has over 20 years of combined experience in horticulture and landscape architecture. She is a licensed professional landscape architect (PLA) and member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Science degree in horticulture from Tarleton State University, and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Arizona. Prior to the joining Facilities Services at UT, Lisa worked at Ten Eyck Landscape Architects and for the consulting firm Bury (now Stantec) as a landscape designer, where she developed her proficiency in sustainable and maintainable designs. Her skills include landscape construction/administration and maintenance, commercial and residential landscape design, and urban entomology.

Glenn Griffin
Landscape Supervisor, J.J. Pickle Research Campus (PRC)

Glenn comes to us with over 25 years of industry experience, with three of those years here at UT Landscape Services. Glenn owned and operated a landscape and nursery business in Hawaii for over 20 years. He holds licenses as both a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) irrigation technician and a Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) pesticide applicator. Glenn has a passion for providing great customer service and is pleased to be working with the PRC campus community.

Justin Hayes
Landscape Supervisor, Medical District

Justin has been in the landscaping industry for 25 years. Starting at UT Austin in 2008 as a gardener, he worked his way up to crew leader and eventually supervisor of the SITES Gold certified Dell Medical District landscape. He and his team won the Texas Turf Association's "Best Turf in Texas" contest in 2012 for their work on the campus' University Avenue landscape. He received his National Organic Farmers Association (NOFA) organic land care accreditation in 2017. In addition, he is Grow Green certified as well as level 3 certified through the Native Plant Society of Texas. He runs the compost operation for landscape services, which is also used by several student organizations and makes compost tea for use in the landscape as well as for giving away at student events. He helps to educate many groups on the benefits of native and sustainable landscape maintenance.

Tim Kihnel
Landscape Supervisor, Irrigation

Tim has 22 years of experience in the field of landscape irrigation. Prior to joining Landscape Services, he worked at Environmental Survey Consulting in Austin as a licensed irrigator and rainwater harvest design practitioner. Tim has designed all levels of irrigation systems including large-scale residential, commercial and civic systems. He earned his American Rainwater Catchment Systems (ARCSA) license through the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) in August of 2020. He is an active member of the Texas Irrigators Association (TXIA) and is also a member of the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of ASSE. Tim Completed his irrigation courses through Water Educational Training Services (WETS), and his backflow prevention assembly tester (BPAT) courses through C2 Backflow Services. Tim is a licensed Irrigator and licensed BPAT tester through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Jennifer Hrobar
Supervisor of Urban Forestry

Jennifer has 17 years of experience in urban forestry and plant health care. She oversees the forestry crew in managing campus trees, coordinates the preservation and protection of trees on campus development projects, and fulfills annual requirements for UT’s designation as a Tree Campus Higher Education. She exhibits her passion for pollinators, native plants, and wildlife through her work at the UT Orchard & Pollinator Gardens, and with invasive species management and planting projects near Waller Creek. Prior to joining the university, she was a plant health care and forestry events crew leader for South Suburban Parks & Recreation in Centennial, Colorado. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in urban forestry from Texas A&M University, is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist municipal specialist and is qualified in ISA tree risk assessment.

Ty Kasey, PLA

Ty is a licensed professional landscape architect (PLA). Ty has over 20 years of landscape design and installation experience and over eight years of greenhouse experience. Ty is a sixth-generation Texan and second-generation Longhorn, born and raised in Austin. Prior to working at UT, he designed landscapes for high-end residential landscape companies for 10 years in the Austin area. He graduated from The University of Texas in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in botany. Ty received his Master of Landscape Architecture degree in 2005 from the College of Environmental Design at Cal-Poly Pomona. Ty is a licensed chemical applicator and formally a licensed irrigator. Ty has assumed the role of unofficial landscape historian for UT, personally amassing an extensive collection of old books pertaining to the campus. Ty has participated or been affiliated with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners, Professional Grounds Management Society, Grow Green, University Landscape Managers Association, Texas Nursery & Landscape Association, Nature Conservancy, Big Sur Land Trust, Carmel River Parkway Plan, Waller Creek Framework Planning Group and others.

John Paul Kelly
Landscape Supervisor, West Campus

John Paul has been in the landscape profession for over 20 years. He joined the university in 2016, bringing his expertise in tree care and agriculture. He started with Landscape Services as a landscape technician and quickly advanced to crew leader in 2018, then to landscape supervisor in 2020. Prior to UT, John Paul served as the grounds supervisor for Texas Tech Health Science Center-Amarillo. He has been licensed as a pesticide applicator in both Texas and New Mexico, and he has also held credentials as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist and master gardener in Randall County.

Curtis Robillard
Landscape Supervisor, East Campus and
Dell Pediatric Research Institute


Curtis has over 20 years of experience in the horticulture industry. He started out working for a landscaping company when he began college in 1993. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in horticulture, he managed/supervised various golf courses for five years. He was the horticulturist for the University of New Orleans for two years before he joined Landscape Services here at The University of Texas at Austin. He has been a landscape supervisor for the east half of campus since July 2007. He is a Texas certified pesticide applicator. He is currently a member of the Texas Landscape Nursery & Landscape Association, Professional Grounds Management Society, Texas Turf Grass Association, and University Landscape Management Association.

Mart Stubblefield
Supervisor, Pest Control

Mart has 30 years of experience in providing pest control services. Prior to joining UT, he started an integrated pest management program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with a heavy emphasis on reduced pesticide usage. Before that, he provided vector control for military operations in Afghanistan and supported Operation Enduring Freedom in Turkey until 2012. He has held a certified applicator license since 1995. He is also an associate certified entomologist (ACE) through the Entomological Society of America.
