Experts in Action: Landscape Supervisor Justin Hayes & an Urban Eco-Oasis

To enjoy wildflowers and pollinators, one might think taking a trip to the Hill Country is necessary, but there are a number of beautiful spots right here on UT's campus, including an award-winning eight acres of sustainable landscape in the middle of the Dell Health District. This space is maintained by six Landscape Services staff along with Dell Medical School Landscape Supervisor Justin Hayes. Hayes recently authored a piece titled An Eco-Oasis in the Heart of a City for Turf Magazine about this gem, a gold standard of sustainability, on the south edge of campus. Read the full story.

Landscape Services Helps Medical District Earn SITES Gold Certification

The Dell Medical District has achieved SITES Gold from the Sustainable SITES Initiative for significant landscape sustainability achievements. The Medical District earned the first SITES v2 Gold certification in Texas. Administered by Green Business Certification Inc., SITES is a comprehensive rating system designed to distinguish sustainable landscapes, measure their performance and elevate their value.
