Our purpose is to repurpose.
We collect University items no longer being used and find them a new home.
Surplus Property promotes a sustainable campus and community through good stewardship, one of our core values, and by supporting the University's conservation goals. Surplus Property is responsible for collecting and transferring The University of Texas at Austin's property to other organizations within the University system, public schools, and qualified assistance organizations.
The Surplus REuse Store operates using a sustainable model focused on recovering, repurposing, renewing and reselling University assets. The Surplus REuse Store is a way the general public can own a piece of UT at a reasonable price!
The majority of our surplus furniture, vehicles, and other large items are sold to the general public through our weekly online auction process.
Visit the Surplus Property warehouse on Fridays to view and obtain items for your department. No appointment necessary for faculty or staff.

Event and Moving Services (EMS) offers the following moving services:
- Moving office furniture or equipment between rooms in the same building
- Transporting office furniture or equipment between UT buildings
Packing services are not provided, and all items must be packed before the move date.
When requesting a move, please be as specific as possible. State the exact type and quantity of items being moved.
- Correct: 23 banker boxes, 2 desks, 7 (full) filing cabinets, 4 chairs
- Incorrect: Couple of boxes, some desks and stuff
We offer the following moving equipment for your move on a first-come, first-served basis:
- Book movers
- Trash/recycling cans (various sizes)
EMS moving days are normally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and events usually take priority over moves. Moving days are more flexible during the summer break.
Customers are required to submit requests to Event & Moving Services with a minimum 10 days' notice. Requests must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. 10 business days before the requested move date, otherwise a fee of $100 will be charged to your account.

Submit your request as early as possible in your planning process, because our services are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and moving equipment quantities are limited. Be as specific as possible about the details of your move and move-support needs.
