Dear colleagues,
This is a follow-up to the November 30 email about the temporary relocation of Lock and Key Services (LKS) prior to the January 2023 demolition of the Service Building (SER) and impending construction of a new engineering building. As promised in my previous email, I am providing you with the most recent information and resources related to the transition to our temporary location and the new processes to request, receive, and return keys.
As of December 1, 2022, the following updates were initiated:
- The LKS customer service counter in SER was permanently closed.
- The LKS temporary trailer was opened (see this map for location and parking information). The trailer will remain open at this location until Summer 2023.
- Key distribution and key returns are now managed from the LKS temporary trailer:
- Key Distribution – If you requested a key(s), you now come to the LKS temporary trailer to pick up your key(s) after receiving an email from LKS saying that your key(s) is ready. This process may take up to 3 days.
- Key Returns – Keys being returned need to be brought to the LKS temporary trailer.
- If you have any questions about these new processes, please call LKS at 512-471-8640 or stop by the temporary trailer.
As of December 8, 2022, here is what you can expect:
- Key requests may only be submitted using the new all-electronic Key Request form. Emailed key request PDF forms and hand-carried paper forms will no longer be accepted.
- A new User Guide for Key Requests is available to assist you with the new all-electronic process.
- Both of the resources linked above are accessible from the LKS webpage.
We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate your understanding and support during this LKS transition. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact either me or Michael Costa, Manager of Building Logistics and Keys, at 512-471-8640 or at michael.costa@austin.utexas.edu. You can also visit the LKS webpage for more information.
Thank you,
Bridget
