Dear colleagues,
This email is to notify our clients who are responsible for the authorization and coordination of keys about upcoming changes to key request services provided by Lock and Key Services (LKS) effective November 1, 2023. Descriptions of the changes are listed below. These changes are being implemented as a result of an increase in requested keys not being picked up. There will now be a new fee which will cover the cost for the time required to restock these keys.
New Key Restocking Fee
After a key request form is submitted by the point of contact for a department, the key holder receives an email notification from LKS to let them know when their key will be available for pick up. If a key is not picked up within 30 days from the date the key holder was notified the key is ready for pick up, a restocking fee will be charged. This fee is applicable to all clients, whether they are educational and general (E&G) or auxiliary. The new fee will be $18.30 per key, which has been published in the “Other Facilities Services Rates” section of the Rates, Fees, Terms and Conditions page on our website.
Changes to the Key Request and Authorization Form
Due to the restocking fee associated with the key request process, you will see changes to the Key Request and Authorization Form, as shown in the image below. All clients must enter an account number when completing the form. The changes are also shown in the Key Request User Guide. You can also read the updated key-related information on our LKS webpage.
Reminder
The LKS service counter is still located at our temporary trailer until we move into our new permanent location in winter 2023-2024, as shown in this map.
